New Soldier of Fortune game coming to the PlayStation 3

After disappearing from the gaming scene following 2002's Double Helix, the Soldier of Fortune franchise has finally been revived for Soldier of Fortune: Pay Back on the Playstation 3, the 360, and the PC. While not officially announced, pages have gone up for the game at EBGames and the guys from WorthPlaying say that they've gotten confirmation about the games existence from one of their shadowy sources.

Supposedly set for a November 2007 release, the game will be stepping into dangerous times with the recent Manhunt 2 rating debacle. Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix received flak back in the day for being able to slowly cut off the face of a dead enemy and watch their brains slide out onto the floor, not to mention the variety of other things like the ability to disembowel people and generally rip them to shreds in horrific ways.

The game is being developed by one of Activision's internal studios who's previous titles have been the budget Cabela's hunter games. Not exactly a high pedigree, but we should see some more about the game at E3 (especially if that November release date is real). We'll let you know as soon as we find out any more info!
